You are beautiful

I went on a date with a charming fellow who used the time to point out my flaws, one after the other. He even criticised my outfit, and helpfully explained how I should fix it.

You might laugh at this poor chap and his chances of getting laid, but we do the same unkindness to ourselves every day.

We focus on our flaws... we're still not good enough... relentlessly we must get better. We feverishly consume articles and podcasts about lifehacks and productivity boosters. I'm broken and I must be fixed.

This. Is. Exhausting.

I only noticed that negative voice in my head when a person echoed the same thoughts out loud. It was unacceptable for a stranger to say such negative bullshit. Why tolerate it from ourselves?
