Code style

. 1 min read

Style doesn’t seem important to beginners.

Beginners are coding small programs, usually alone, and usually for a one-off tutorial.

Why bother with style? Why bother writing code for humans? After the tutorial is over, the code will never been seen again. The compiler didn’t complain, so mixing tabs and spaces is fine. The code works, right?

If you’re starting to study computer science at university, please follow the style guide. Good style makes your code easier to read, and that means easier to mark. Make it easy for your tutor to give you full marks.
